In the forest we see many things
As we step along we hear many things
Our Aura enlarges
We see more, we hear more

We feel more
The cracking twig stabs us with fear
Yet we do not run
We have become above the animals
Fear, it flees from us as we Live

Her petals are pink with white tips

She is in full bloom

I crawl to her

She hypnotizes me

She is a precious pearl

She is dripping with fragrance and fresh cream

Just let me stay near

She opens a new flower

As I quiver

Her pheromones entice

She envelopes my presence

She is part of me

As I am of her

I will return

Each new day and night

And revel in her beauty

Dream Catcher – Heather Mirassou

So alone in a cage

She rolls and rolls

Into a safety net

Into a cloak

Her dream catcher

Begins to unravel

Her sheath

Her cacoon

It is not sudden

It has taken

A lifetime

Her net undone

The butterfly

Confused

Flutters

Lost from home

She no longer

Fights or spins

On a string

She opens her wings

She free falls

Blind and courageous

Caught by a warrior

Finally free

I Am Blue – Heather Mirassou

I am blue today

Like the cobalt sky

I reach for

The crisp air

So I can fly

I ride Clouds

That look like cotton balls

They litter the sky

I am untouchable

Just as she is

Be Alive In Everything – Heather Mirassou

Be alive in everything. Now go paint the rain.

pexels-photo-210012.jpeg

I had awakened and was alive

But when fear, adversity, uncertainty, and sin left me stranded

I raised my protective shield and ran with the wind

My soul stirred, whispered, cried for release

I wanted tranquility, happiness, and contentment

I hit my knees unashamed

Prayed for strength, guidance, and humility

No longer to let life pass me by

I took a leap of faith

Acceptance and forgiveness paved my path

Unwavering love and perseverance carried me

God’s Beautiful Artistry

With blind and deaf awareness

Be Alive in Everything

Revel in life

Find the detail

Be precise

Touch Everything

Explore

Be Inquisitive

Touch it

Taste it

Smell it

Feel it

Record it with Clarity

Be Alive in Everything

Now Go Paint the Rain

Fruitage – Heather Mirassou

The moonlight is topaz

A light that is insatiable

The fruitage an acidulous gold

Full to the brim

A quencher

Droplets alive

Of perfumed fruit

Through the Looking Glass – Heather Mirassou

031315 052

My past is but a dream. My present an insatiable appetite for life. My future pre-determined and out of sight.

Oh but to be young again, to begin again, to find me again. Who would I aspire to be?

Through the looking-glass, I see a mirror image of me. Free to be who I am with no preconceptions, expectations or promises to keep. Only a silent treasure chest of dreams only I can see. Only a panoramic view of what is the best I can be.

Perhaps, I would fly overseas and travel countries in poverty, recording adversity and atrocities.

Perhaps, I would study the stars and galaxies.

Perhaps, I would march in pride and diversity.

Perhaps, I would study archeology, geology or history.

Perhaps, I would be Simon or Garfunkel in Central Park in New York City.

Perhaps, I would sail alone on the open seas.

Perhaps, I would visit my native France and Italy.

A dream is a dream, but through the looking-glass I can see and be the best of what has made me.

I will continue to record life, love, and history through my poetry. My self-made dreams connecting in this irony.

Dedicated to: Trevor Edmund Mirassou and Brandon Timothy Borden, my sons.

Today February 2, 2016

Just today I put on my hearing aids and was hypnotized by the sight and sounds of the earth. I heard black birds mating calls, I heard a dribbling creek, I heard my mom call my name, I could hear her laughter. I could see like I could hear. Everything so crisp and clear. The clouds like a family of Pillsbury dough-boy’s, the cascading, hungry hawk searching for prey. The smile in my husband’s eyes.

I will recall what it felt like to be alive. To feel connected to something bigger than me. Something so unique and amazing that I don’t forget to smell the roses. To be brave and kind and rewind. Engrave the world in my mind. To feel connected mind, body and spirit is essential to my survival.

It’s time to get out of this shell, reach out and connect with the world again.

With a Smile,

Heather

Open Up You Rain -Heather Mirassou

Open up you rain
The summer is sweet thickened mud
My knees are bowed
Beneath the broken wind
Heaven rises
Kicking the giant fallen sun
Open up you rain
The summer is sweet thickened mud

Eventide – Heather Mirassou

As the Earth hangs unstrung
The sun begins to weep
The wandering outline of the sky
Is slackened into a fountain
Fading into eventide

Nocturnal – Heather Mirassou

The forest is dark
by night it’s been swallowed
all things mysterious
all sounds hallowed.

Nature’s nocturnal
all life’s gathered here
although all movements are ghostly
there is nothing to fear out here.

Dark mythical arms
hide the moon
dawn will be arriving
but never too soon.

Crickets shrill
and interrupt the night air
owls cry and make harmony
nature is so romantic in the air.

Melodies – Heather Mirassou

violet fields.jpgEmbroidered ivory mountains

flowing tipped waterfalls

and melodious violet fields.

A thousand madrigals

and fragrant Myrtle groves.

The rivers and streams

sing sweet rapture

symphonies.

As the celestial hidden skies

hover, Venus, charms

a quivering goddess sighs.

Under The Moonlight – Heather Mirassou

ol24S02

The aqueous moonlight

floats from heaven

Sober hues and a tender wind

crisscross the sky

A hazel mist melts the faint dew

below the sleeping willow tree

The murmuring water lilies

awaken the egantine

While my white eyes are lulled

under a topaz canopy

Delight – Heather Mirassou

I see naked droplets

of subtle honey bee.

Love released beyond

our summer lending trees.

Beyond a breeze

glow-worm light shines bright.

Love wheel delight

for the stars are giddy tonight.

A Girl – Heather Mirassou

Her lips like ruby pearl

as soft as a silk sheet.

Her mouth like blush candy

as sweet as a cherry treat.

Her breasts like buttermilk

as delicious as whipped cream.

Her hair a lucent gold

like heaven’s falling leaves.

Her heart like a mirror to

her soul as to the sea.

I Am Wakeful – Heather Mirassou

Moon Silhouettes

In the wee hours
I am wakeful
When clouds are nesting
And the wind is thrusting
Carnival wildflowers glow

Twinkling in painted fields
A moon overflowed
And the rain begins to rouse
I rise in a dream
Where my spirits soar
I faintly kiss the stream

Take Me Home – Heather Mirassou

Take me home mama

To a place I once belonged

Hold my hand steady

And sing to me a song

My face filled with tears

All my family is gone

Take me home mama

To a place I once belonged

Under the grapevine canopy

You taught me to be strong

The hundred year-old oak tree

Dances until dawn

Take me home mama

To a place I once belonged

Artist’s Canvas – Heather Mirassou

The artist strokes his canvas
His hues and tints of beauty
The orator of his creation
The perfect task of impression
Like a beam of sunlight
Rainbows illuminate
Glory and splendor appear
His vision is revelation

Twilight Bliss – Heather Mirassou

She whispers to heaven
No rainbows dampened
Young souls tossing
Pearl birds
Planet full of color
A purple myriad
Rejoicing iridescence
Whisper tears
Rustic turquoise
Revived sunlight
Fountain of harvest
Seas hypnotize
Goodbye twilight bliss

Lavender Moonlight – Heather Mirassou

Like peach blossoms

As lovely as daffodils

In the purest hope of spring

My heart-strings follow each strum of a harp

Your voice a hypnotic melody

I leap like a cricket

at the whisper of your name

The evening floats

On a great parrot wing

I am comforted

With you by my side

I hold you tight

Like two twilight beams across the sky

In the listless evening

I listen for the last chime of the day

I lie with you

In lavender moonlight

Hand-in-hand we reach our destiny

For a mystical shower of love

Winter – Heather Mirassou

In the softest night
Free winter rises
Maiden blossoms sincere
Weary blossoms adhere
Winter grass is near
Naked tenderness is here
With tired kisses in the air
Goodnight springtime with care

April Alive – Heather Mirassou

Budding bright rivulets
Islands of green groves
Ardent foliage
Idle leaves
Common spirit wild
Distant naked hues
Spot a summit air
April desires
Contentment alive

Nature Dawns – Heather Mirassou

Nature Dawns
Flower fresh love
Perfumed trees
Rose colored affection
Sustenance to our eyes
Mother heaven in the skies
God’s great hand rises

Rain Dance – Heather Mirassou

The sound of crackling glass
Fill my eardrums and awaken me
A steamy haze beckons me
Barefoot and naked I tap-dance on bubbles
Sweet nectar fills my mouth with delight
The humid rain calms and soothes my sizzling skin
The stars are the brightest I have ever seen
The moon is tucked away in its cradle
Mother Nature has raised her hand to me
Come rain on me

Questionable Love – Heather Mirassou

From seedlings
Raw passion arrives
teardrops germinate
A questionable love
Free reign love’s geyser
Either uproot and scatter
Or stay and bloom

Storm Canvas – Heather Mirassou

A storm canvas can take you away
Thunderstorms and lightening
Tempest roaring high
Tumult of a tropic sky
Impatient as the phantom wind
Magenta jealousy
The earth summons
Wanting whorls
Invisible love potion
Dare to walk in its wake
Hands in the air
Clean crisp air
I become transparent
My passion dims
The cyclone whispers
Grizzly arms athwart the sky
I am no longer a slave to society
The breeze of heaven blows
Upon my soul

Goddess – Heather Mirassou

skylark-158485

In sunny solitude
The swelling seas
Erase the bank of haze
Birds begin to sing
A skylark soars in the air

Purple hills of paradise
No longer dampened souls
Tossing and turning in the night
Pearl white peaks
Hypnotize across the planet

The color of strength
Of a rainbow myriad
Green cascading canopies
No longer drinking
Nature’s tears away

With fluorescent green
Humming birds
Under the turquoise sky
The vintage rustic vines
Are revived to a new life

Rejoicing hearts
Of amethysts and emeralds
Are awakened from
The breeze of heaven
Vines whisper in awe

Her sun
Sky sweet bliss
Fountain overflows
To twilight shade
Robed fields of gold

Her young berries
Plump and iridescent
Until harvest comes
She will say goodbye
And again renew

Mad Love – Heather Mirassou

This was a free write in response to Arthur Rimbaud’s Ophelia. His poem is lovely and mine does not quite do it justice.

As snow does to a fire that runs
Blue white Ophelia floats
Mad with love as magnificent as snow
And among water lilies
Star which melts away
The wind kisses her breasts
Shivering willows
A nest of mad kisses
Curves of her back
In each soft corner
From violet forests
His sweet brow
On the seascape
The calm black water
Black moss embroidered
Her great veils rising
Why the goldenrod stars
Love her reflection madly
The rivers are a sail
Shadow flowers with bale
Scented twilight
A pearl sky

Moonshine Wind Song – Heather Mirassou

Barefoot and dirt-clod
I tip-toe across the yard
Avoiding mounds of stickers
Sharp rocks and weeds

The sky is full
Satin filled milk fluff
Moonshine
Full on me

Our tangerine trees
Rustle with low-lying
Bullfrogs
Ribbit, ribbit

A symphony of crickets sings
High pitched Beetle mania
I hear a distant “moo” from the cows
A latent “who” from the owls in the barn

The statuesque wind chimes
Is playing a cacophony of wind song
This life here engulfs me in it’s pure and rare beauty
I am one with the country, home again

Garden Affair – Heather Mirassou

I wrote this poem for my husband recently, I would love some feedback from poetry enthusiasts!

I inhale
Your Intoxicating fragrance
Pheromones entice
Lingering passion
Sun and sky sweet
I am delirious
Dancing in your
Wakening melodies
Bouquet of pearly white peaks

I Awake
In your quicksand soil
Scattering seeds
Delicate sea legs
Wobbly wooden stalks
Germinating roots
A newborn flower
Porcelain
Fragile, Fertile foliage

I swallow
Your clear spring geyser
Brisk diamond water
Raining sky water
Relieve my parched
Withering body
Swimming
Stealing grace
Sea of Fertility

I Rejoice
Your Renewing promise
I am breathless
Wild ecstasy
A Cacophony of birdsong
Gorgeous milk fluff
A canopy of tranquility
In the shape of a heart

Cockeral Waltz

Good morning rooster
How do you do?
It’s the crack of dawn
You cock-a-doodle-do
You sit on your perch pride fully and woo
Standing mighty and bold you call your brood for food

Sleek and graceful you do the cockerel waltz
Strutting vaudeville statuesque
Crowing to proclaim your territory
You stand protecting your roost
Busty and brave
Watching for predators coming your way

The alpha male
Your ear lobes and crown are blood-red like a bird of paradise
Your steel beak as strong as a saw
Your feather mane chestnut drapes over your back
Your breast fuchsia and emerald quill
Your silken tail an extended fan

You run free rein on my ranch
A thousand chickens roost in my barn
You rearrange my garden while pecking for nourishment
Eating up all the insects and brown recluses in my yard
In dust you and your flock bathe
You even watch over the hens eggs

Your calls distinct and powerful
When you are still and content sweet singing rings
You are friendly to humans
And can even be domesticated
Stay here Roo
We will protect you
